This session was so refreshing. If you know me, you know that I loooooove sunset sessions, but it is also so nice to mix things up. And during my crazy fall season with lots of sunset sessions, I love that this family wanted to do an indoor family session. The baby is only a few months old, so rather than subject him to the cold, they decided to do the session in their home.
I started the session the same way I would my newborn sessions, by walking around and assessing the light. I found a few great spots and we moved around among them. One of my favorite spots was in the corner of the dining room. We dragged a chair over near the window for some beautiful fine-art looking portraits. We took some family shots in the main foyer. We even ended the session over at the piano. The mom, a pianist, hadn’t played since she had the baby, so she plopped him on her lap and let him touch the keys. He loved it! I have a feeling that might become a common activity in that house now.
I loved meeting this family in a place that is clearly so special to them. Especially with their little guy being so little, and with RSV season being upon us, they have been spending a lot of time at home. These photos will now remind them of that time together and tell their story. You know I love a good story 🙂
