k family ~ newborn session in Randolph

This sweet little lady came 4 weeks early! She just couldn’t wait to meet everyone 🙂

Working in our favor, she was still very sleepy most of the day and night, including sunset time, which I always thought was unheard of for a baby. I pretty much start to twitch remembering the hours of 4-11pm during the first few weeks of newborn life for each of my own kids. I also am a believer that babies feed off of their parents’ energy, and with how relaxed these parents are, it all makes a lot of sense. (all of it, haha!)

This mom spoke my language when she was booking the session and told me she wanted beautiful light. We did part of the session indoors and part of the session in their backyard, where a setting sun was peeking through the trees. One thing I really love about full sessions (the connection and lifestyle sessions) is that there is more time to settle in, wait for the beautiful light, and catch such a variety of poses. One of my personal favorite pictures from the session just sort of happened. I was next to the window, taking a picture of the dad holding his sweet new daughter, and mom was standing next to me, just watching. Then she said, “Ah, this is going to make me cry!” I hopped over to the other side of dad so that I could capture her watching him… a brand new dad holding the most precious thing he has ever held. I do love looking at studio newborn pictures, but it is these moments that make me love newborn lifestyle images more.
