This family asked to have their family photos taken in their backyard. Also their backyard is AMAZING— with 3 different barns, an old outhouse and full privacy from neighbors (although the neighbor’s cat did try to sneak into a few photos). We knew we would be able to have a lot of fun with the different “backdrop options.” Each kid got his/her own solo shots in front of a different barn or outhouse (talk about gallery variety).
One of my favorite parts of the session was when we did an “album cover photo” with the whole family in front of one of the barns. I think the kids had a lot of fun with this too! The mom had an idea, too, where the kids would go up into the hayloft of one of the barns and peep out of the window. She went up with them for safety reasons (such an old barn and no railings on the stairs going up!) so I had her pop into a few of the photos. Dad, who was a little nervous about the whole thing, didn’t want to miss out on the fun, so he got up there too. That might be my favorite photo ever. They may use it for their Christmas card though, so I can’t share just yet. One day, though!
