s family ~ baby boys in blue

My newborn session last weekend was so much fun. I had never met this family before but within 5 minutes of being in their home, I felt like I have known them for a long time. The parents were so friendly, their house was all decorated for Christmas and the baby was fed and ready to go. He was pretty awake when I arrived but not many babies can withstand the powers of my space heater and cozy wrapping. He fell right to sleep and was an absolute angel for the entire session. He let me change his wrap multiple times and move him to different props and then even took pictures with his older sister (the family dog) and parents. I know it can be challenging to get a pet to cooperate during a newborn session. I don’t think they really understand what exactly you want from them! Plus there is this stranger in the house with a camera… But these photos are often my favorites from the session. All of the pet siblings I have met throughout my newborn photography journey have been so sweet with their new baby. I love seeing that connection.

Speaking of connections, yes the baby was so cute, but the parents were equally as cute together. I always love capturing photos of the parents looking at their new baby, but I especially love photos of the new parents holding their new baby and looking at each other. New parents, in particular, are often looking at one another with a sort of awe, as they take on these new roles together. It is beautiful!
